Anyone try FreshPet Select Roasted Meals? Our 2 year old yorkie Ellie is so particular when it comes to food. She hates dry food, she'll only eat it if she's startving. But when give her wet food she gets very soft stools and its not good either. We bought her this over the weekend and it seems to be a very happy medium. She LOVES it first off. She was begging at her dish all night for food she liked it so much. And now we find that her stools are very normal and not messy. The food is soft, but not watery like true wet food. Anyone have experience with it? Real Chicken Recipe With Carrots & Spinach | Freshpet $7 for a 1.75lb bag that should last a week or so. |
I really know nothing about where it's produced or manufactured or anything about the company, however the ingredients look good to me and I've fed it a few times to Jackson the past with success. He really loved it. :) I think if she's doing well on it, keep her on it. :) I think it's great that you can get it at the grocery store -- I'm all for making healthier options available at places like that. |
I let my kiddos have a sample at a pet expo once and they both puked all night- taught me a lesson about letting the kiddos eat random samples. |
I really like this brand. I was feeding the FreshPet Deli Fresh - Chicken, Vegetable & Rice Formula to Buster for about 2 weeks before I started cooking food for him. He really loved it. I asked my Holistic vet about it. He said its good. Definitely better than any dry kibble because there are no preservatives so it has to be used within about a week. I like that it has kelp, flaxseed oil, and green tea extract in it. Chicken, Vegetable & Rice Formula | Freshpet |
Does anyone know how you calculate the protein on a moist food? This says 12%, but I'm assuming that's because the moisture is 64%. The second thing I'd be concerned with is that chicken liver is the number two ingredient, and chicken liver should only be given in small quantities occasionally from what I've read. Maybe someone knowledge (Ellie May :D) can address this. |
33% protein min. 22% fat min. I assume the liver isn't an issue as long as they are staying within AAFCO guidelines for vitamin A. ..but that doesn't say anything about the brand, etc. |
I keep seeing commercials on tv for this food lately but like others have said, I don't really know much about it. I'm curious to read what others think about this food. |
I've fed the meatballs to my girls. They really like them. They leave the veggies behind though. We use it more as a "special snack" on holidays or birthdays because it's expensive to feed it to 4 dogs. |
