The ones that it says stock it, I called today. They can order it in for you but do not keep it in stock because there is "no demand" for it.
I guess I could order it in and always stay a bag ahead of ordering in case of non availability when I needed to reorder.

Many stores can't or don't want to carry a wide range of brands and formulas. It is a challenge maintaining a complicated inventory, so some stores prefer to keep it simple and limit customer choices.

Maybe if you pre-order, they will be inspired to start stocking it and the demand will follow.

I tried searching for this food in Salt Lake...no one carries it! Moses is a dabbler, too. He is eating Nutro Ultra as recommended by a manager and buyer at Petco. He liked it at first, but now is sooo picky. I would like to try Fromms. We have some pet boutiques here...I wonder if they can order it in! Do you think there is a difference in flavor between puppy formula and adult formula?

But I suppose shipping would be costly unless you can find a great deal.

I fed Nutro to Max in the beginning and he wasn't that excited about it. Then I read about all of the consumer complaints about the product. I highly recommend switching.

After Nutro, I fed Natural Balance, which I still like. Fromm costs less, so that is a plus.

The Fromm formulas being discussed in this thread are the "Four-Star Nutritionals," which are for all life stages. The puppy and other formulas are part of Fromm's other lines. You can read about the differences on the Fromm website.

One place I called to order said $18.99 and another was $11.99.

$18.99 is nuts. That is likely a store that doesn't deal in high volume and has to pay $$ to the distributor. Or they are charging a special order fee.

I pay $11.99 at Wylie Wagg and a few other places in Northern VA. The highest I have seen it is $13.99 for a 5 pound bag.

Check around online at Luke's All Natural or other places for deals on shipping.

Just ordered the Fromm chicken ala veg for Moses. It's exhausting trying to research and compare reviews on each brand. I am going to try to get a pet store here in Salt Lake City to at least give me the option to order it if Mo likes it!

:thumbup: I hope he does well with it. The kibble size is nice for smaller dogs. My big boys like it and they do very well on it.

Going to our local store right now to get a bag of Fromm chicken ala veg. Hopefully Trixie will like it and actually eat it. She loves TOTW canned food, but it gave her the runs so no more wet from TOTW. Wish me luck!

Good luck! See if you can get samples of some of the other flavors too. My boys like the other flavors a little more than the chicken.

So far boys love the chicken (mixing it in slowly with Chicken Acana).

I'm so happy they like it! My boys still love it. It's a lot of fun switching the flavors around. I have a couple of different bags and I let them pick sometimes:)

I got my bag of Fromms today! I was soo excited! I opened the bag and gave a piece to Moses...and he promptly dropped it on the floor and walked away!! This dog!!! I have been trying samples from our specialty store and he really likes TOTW wetlands canine formula with roasted fowl. (after I spent $20 on the Fromms incl shipping). Maybe he is a TOTW boy!

My babies tried the Fromm Duck and Sweet Potato and LOVED it so now we got Surf and Turf small bag. They love it!! They would pick it out of their bowl. We currently feed them Orijen fish, Merrick's Chicken Pot Pie, and Fromm Surf and Turf. They are picky as hell so we are glad they like Fromm and hope they will continue to like it once we switch them completely over to Fromm! I think if I remembered correctly, it's around $10.99-11.99 for a 4 lb bag. We will get a bigger bag next time ;) Oh, have anyone tried the Fromm Adult Gold?? I'm thinking of trying that...but I'm scared that they won't like it...I wish they give samples!!

He is such a little stinker! I got him the Fromm Chicken Ala Veg. I wonder if it's the chicken? Anyway, I mixed it with his Nutro and he picked them both out his bowl and dropped them on the floor, then just looked at me! So I left it for awhile and he still was not interested! Eventually I dumped it and gave him some of the TOTW. He scarfed it! Hope he continues to like it. And the nice thing is we have stores who carry TOTW here in Salt Lake. The bad news is I now have 1/2 bag of Innova, 3/4 bag of Nutro Ultra and a full bag of Fromms!!

It's okay! You can give the other bags of food to your other friends with dogs and maybe their dogs will like it ;) My babies are picky too! lol I'm just glad they like Fromm, but I just hope they don't stop liking it! It's weird, they don't like TOTW!! The store where we get our food allows us to bring it back and trade if dogs won't eat it. I can't do that with the Merrick's because we dumped the bag so they have to eat it :p lol

Lucky you, Jen! Isn't it funny how fussy these dogs are? I was telling the manager of Mo's daycare about it and she said she will take all of the unused food to the shelter! That makes me feel good that won't go to waste and can do some good to those less fortunate puppies!

Wow that's great!! Once they are completely on the chicken you can even try a new flavor. I just love how you can switch around and it does nothing to upset Cooper's tummy. They go nuts over the Pork & Applesauce and Duck & Sweet Potato.

Has anyone tried the Fromm Adult Gold dry food?? I'm thinking of trying it...but want to see if others have tried it. They currently like the Surf & Turf, but I don't know if it's because it's new or that they truly love it...:rolleyes:

I've never tried the Adult Gold. What about trying them on the other Four Star flavors?

Oh, thank you. Hadn't gone to the website yet but there it was - locations pretty near me! I think I might try Tibbe on some of that so see how he does. :)

I just want to add that I am by no means a dog nutrition expert. I only posted this thread to share my experience with the food. Please do your own research to make sure it'll work for your dog.

They did like Fromm Duck and Sweet Potato, but the store we went to didn't have it so we tried the Surf and Turf. They LOVE it!! They get excited when it's feeding time and they will finish their bowl (FINALLY!!)! I guess we will stick with Surf and Turf because I just checked DogFoodAdvisor.com and it's considered a 5-star dog food. :)
