Dog food ! Help. Has someone here tested these dog foods and what do you guys think of them ?? OK Dog Arden Grange Natural Trainer Happy Dog Eukanuba Orijen Bosch I'm looking for a dog food that does not have more than 7-8% fat and about 20-25% protein , with not much corn or other food that dogs dont need, with about 50% or more meat , not with by-product, no gluten, and just as healthy food as I can find !! I use Hills Light right now but I dont like the ingredients, and it has too much fat. There isnt much to choose from where I live, only those Ive listed here above and then Royal Canin, Halla Foder, Hill's and some few other. |
I'm using Orijen, but I think that is way too high on protein for my dog. She just had a blood check and the BUN and CRE on her test came back a bit high. I try to understand what the Vet said , I think is the protein causing that. |
Hi Fido, Here is a website I use to check the quality of dog food: www.dogfoodanaylsis.com My furbaby eats a mix of Fromm (pork/apple sauce) & Ziwipeak (venison/fish). I feed him a mix because we travel a great deal and I never know when we are not going to find his food. The Hills diet is over priced garbage...imo With the exception of the Arden (lots of filler with little chicken), Orijen (high protein) & Eukenuba (by-products and grains), I am not familiar with any of the brands you mentioned. Good luck! Carmen |
TOTW here Siera Mountain Formula (lamb) so far my two love it. Before I was using Wellness Super 5 Mix small bite. Lily had "runny" eyes so we decided to switch. Both are lower in protein around 20% ish. |
I've been happy feeding Natural Balance reduced calorie. It has 18% protein and 8% fat, and the first two ingredients are brown rice and chicken. It also has a lot of natural ingredients. You can get it at Petco if you have one there. It's appr $35 for 15 lbs. |
The only 2 foods I recognize on the list you provided are Eukanuba and Orijen. Out of those 2, I would definitely go with Orijen, but the protein amounts may be a little higher than what you're looking for. Eukanuba is not a very good food in my opinion. |
I use to use Orijen Regional Red but my dogs are not as active and one is now 6. As a result I did a lot of research to find the best possible food. I found it in Carna4 - I love the concept, the food and the ingredients. The food has 24% protein. The dogs love it and stools are finally easy to pick up. The food is whole food and has no synthetic vitamin additives or premix. All food is human grade made in a bakery.I highly recommend it. While it is not cheap you can see why when reading the ingredients. Ingredients Fresh Chicken, Chicken Liver, Eggs, Certified Organic Sprouted Barley Seed, Wild Salmon, Whole Vegetables (Peas, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Spinach, Garlic), Amaranth, Whole Brown Rice, Certified Organic Sprouted Green Lentils, Potato Starch, Certified Organic Sprouted Flaxseed, Certified Organic Sprouted Red Lentils, Whole Apples, Sea Salt, Kelp, Yucca Schidigera, Rosemary and Parsley |
