Hello, our Maya was 7 months when she started her first heat, which was very early IMO. We didn't do anything special. We found her to be moody and at first I made little diaper's for her, but some of the members here suggested not to do that, to let her get use to cleaning herself. We did give her some special attention with health treats, ie; yogurt in her food and cottage cheese. She did get very sick at the same time but it wasn't related to her heat, at first I thought it was but it wasn't. So long story short, it is normal for then to go into heat, you don't need to do anything special except to cover your furniture if she is on the couch. Don't let her out where other males dogs can get at her or she will get pregnant. Lot's of love but don't be surprised if she is very mood and very tired. Try not to worry it's perfectly normal. Hope that helps..... |
My Sassy went in heat when she was 7 months old, I was surprised. My Tessie never went in heat before we had her spayed. I didn't put diapers on her ( she would have ripped them off) but I let her take care of herself, I had to keep her confined sometimes, I have 2 male Yorkies but they are neutered. They were still very interested in her and she was so bad about teasing them. Please don't let her outside, it is amazing how far a boy dog will come to find her. Sassy was just wilder than normal, but she is very hyper anyway. Your baby will be fine just give her lots of extra attention. I had to wait a month after her heat ended to make sure all of her swelling had gone down inside and then I had her spayed. Now all my babies are spay/neutered. Good Luck and don't worry. |
