How did the spay go? When my dog was spayed, the vet recommended an E-collar so that she wouldn't lick at the incision site. She was also prescribed Rimadyl to manage her pain for a few days after the surgery. She was 5 months I believe at the time, and she bounced back to her normal self the next day. I was a little worried that her personality would change from the loss of her female organs and associated hormones, but it didn't. She is the best dog and is the same chipper girl she was before. Be sure to ask all the questions you may have to your vet. Good luck! |
Thanks so much for this thread! My Muffin is getting spayed on Monday and I've been wondering all these questions. Specifically, how do you keep her calm? She's been very sick in the past and yet she still got up and barked like a doberman when someone knocked on the door! Amazing! So I hope she won't be too hyper after the surgery. Right before every heat she gets so sick and I can't wait to see her healthy and not going through this over and over. She just turned two years old. |
Mina was spayed about 10days ago.I didn't get her back until about 4pm. When we got home all she wanted to do was chase the other dogs, wound up tighter than an I day clock. I had to put her harness on her and make her sit next to me. The pain meds (medacam) messed her tummy up and she was obviously NOT in any pain,so the vet had me stop that after the first day. She wore onesies for about a week,my vet thought it was a GREAT idea instead of an ecollar. Hope that your baby is feeling well and that this evening everyone will get some rest. |

Glad 2 hear that everything went well. Is wondering if I should have it done to my Sophie. :aimeeyork Love my Sophie :aimeeyork |
So glad that she is doing well! Mina actually liked the onesies enough that she now knows if I put one on her,it must be bed time. |
