Pet Armor vs. Frontline...thoughts, opinions please Supposedly Frontline's patent on Flea and Tick Meds have expired so now other companies can come in and make their comparable versions of it. I have seen a lot of ads for Pet Armor. Anyone have any opinions, facts or thoughts in regards. I need to go get a new supply for the pups and I am not sure if it's worth trying the Pet Armor which is currently a lot cheaper than the frontline. |
Last I knew PetArmor was about to be pulled do to copyright infringement. |
Doubt there is any copyright infringement. The patent on frontline is up. Any thoughts on the others like Sargent and Hartz? |
dvm360: Court orders seizure of PetArmor products; upholds Merial patents | NewsLetterTree Anything in the store besides Frontline and Advantage products are unsafe. Fronline, Frontline Plus, Advantage, Advantage II, Advantix, Advantix II, Revolution, Comfortis are the major ones now. Some better than others. Not all cover ticks. I wouldn't go with an off brand. |
Frontline makes Heidi itch both times i've tried it. It's been 3 days since I put it on her and she's still scratching, though it is getting better. Gave her a bath last night - no fleas. I'm going to have to try something else. |
I've been using frontline for 11 years....I live in an area with a high risk for lyme disease, with this year having 52% more adult deer ticks than last.......have not yet pulled a tick off any of these dogs. Not a flea ever. I like the product, it has not caused any side effects in any of my dogs and is a safe choice for even my epileptic dog. There is no way I'd ever omit a flea and tick medication living here in New England. I would not use a generic product. I usually get a rebate when I buy several doses at once. |
I normally don't care for chemicals. I usually give the pups a bath with Minksheen shampoo since it has the citronella and other natural things. Never come across ticks here in NYC, but I am sure there are some fleas around. I noticed a lot more dogs in the neighborhood lately so I decided to use some Frontline Plus. I was just trying to figure if I should continue, I need to buy another batch. While researching I found the PetArmor. I think I will stick with the Minksheen. I am so wary of all these chemicals and vaccines. |
Pet Armor/Pet Armor Plus is still being sold in my area, I bought some the other day to try. It definitly is cheaper and has all of the same ingredients as Frontline/Frontline Pus. I put some on my bigger dogs (small dogs had been treated 2 days before with frontline plus) and so far as I can tell it works just the same. No fleas and my dogs had no reaction. Im gonna keep using it untill they take it off the market.. I agree with Ellie on not using hartz or any other no name stuff, my mom in law put some hartz on her lab last year and she had a terrible reaction to it and ended up at the vets... |

Minksheen altough a great shampoo attracts fleas to my dogs. Everytime I use it Tucker ALWAYS ends up with fleas, I dont no why or how but he does, its weird. I love how it makes my dogs look and feel but I wont use it in the summer time.. |

One of the girls I work with bought the Pet Armor. It didn't work and she is back to frontline plus. |
