I've never seen a tick or flea on my 16 year old (deceased Chihuahua) or my Yorkie girls who are 6 and 4 years old, and I've never put chemical's on them to prevent it. I go the holistic approach. It's much safer. Why take chances with our precious little ones! | Well, unfortunately, some areas are really high risk for ticks including Maryland. Lymes disease is a big deal here and Jackson tested positive for it once (while on Frontline) and no holistic sprays, etc, will keep them away. I am not risking him getting Lymes disease again as the risk for lymes is way higher than him getting ill from the meds.
So we will continue to use Advantix because it's the only thing that keeps the ticks totally away from us. Though I only use Advantix in the summer months and back to Frontline from around October-April because I am not totally comfortable using the permethin in Advantix year-round. Btw, he got Lymes in January, a cold month, and ticks were still getting on him in December so they are here all year. Believe me, I would LOVE not to use anything but it's just not always a possibility. |
