Food storage container - what kind? I need to buy a new food storage container (mine has a new crack in it). Are there any that are better than others? I've been using a dark green heavy plastic container and it's worked well but I thought I'd check with you guys and see what you recommend. Thanks! :) Bonny |
I purchase it in 52bl bags so I store mine in the garage in a large rubber trash can with a secure lid to keep out the pests we baught at Meijer Store . We keep a small busket in the house and we fill it as needed. |

With my little crew, I have to buy the bigger bags of food too LOL. I've been keeping mine in this green plastic container that just cracked, and I keep the container in a spare bedroom. Then I scoop a few days worth into a smaller container as needed. What type of basket are you using in the house? I keep changing what I use for that - can't find anything that works just right. |
RoughTote 18gal size,in a storage closet in the house. I keep a smaller amount of each animal food in the pantry in airtight containers. |
Sparky is my only dog so I buy the smallest bags of food. I bought my container from Petco. It can hold up to 10 lbs of food i think and it has a pour spout, or a bigger opening if you want to use a cup. http://http://www.petco.com/product/...es_FoodStorage |

I use an old powder laundry detergent bucket! Sounds kinda weird but we needed something for when we go camping that had a secure lid to keep out the racoons and birds. So we just continued to use it when we got home. It works..... its small enough to keep under the kitchen sink. |
Vittle vaults are the best IMO. |

Toto is our "only child" and she only gets 1/8 cup of her kibble [Innova] per day. I try to find the little 2 lb. bags but sometimes finding it is difficult. I keep hers in a small glass jar and use my Food Saver to freeze, airtight portions, just the size to fill the jar ... it's very handy to store it this way and takes very little space in my freezer. I also store her Honest Kitchen Force the same way. Yes, I checked with the mfg. to make sure it was O.K. to freeze it.:thumbup: |

*** If you empty your dog food into a storage container, always rememember to record the exact product name, bag size and best buy dates on the storage container for your reference, in case of possible recall. |

I would also make sure that the plastic container is approved for food storage.... otherwise chemicals could leach into the food... |
