Gulping and Swallowing I was wondering if anyone could help me with a question. Tillie tends to gulp / swallow quite a bit, when not eating. I doesnt seem to bother her. She also licks us and the air a lot. Has anyone else experienced this? She is about 6 years old and generally healthy. The vet seems to think she may have a food allergy so we stopped feeding her lamb as this seems to be the culprit. I make all of her food. Hope someone can help. Thanks Catherine |
Cooper gulped/swallowed a lot about 2 years ago and I found out he had a throat infection. I'm guessing that since your vet is aware of the issue that this isn't the case for your dog. With that being said Cooper has continued to gulp/swallow on and off for about 1 year, but only at night when he's in bed. 2 of his vets assumed it must be some kind of allergy as his nose also runs and we've tried all medications as well as a plain diet. I've taken away lots of toys and different materials and nothing seemed to work. About a month ago I noticed that it has completely stopped and can only guess that in Cooper's case, it's season allergies. He's not bothered by it at all. Also, licking the air is a sign of nausea. |
That was the reason Dudley was took in to the ER the other nite. He was swallowing over and over. I thought he had something hung in his throat. It was toncillitus. Wouldn't hurt to get a second opionion. Infections need to be took care of. Dudley has been on antibotics and something to coat his throat for a week. He is doing great now. Hope your baby gets better because something is wrong somewhere. |

That is what happened to Rosie at the first of this year. We had to go to the ER vet on a Sunday. She kept swallowing and it sounded "thick". Don't know how else to describe it. They said she had a throat infection that was possibly tonsillitis. she was also very clingy to me. Antibiotics and she was fine. Has the vet seen her or was it a phone consultation? |
