My 10 month old yorkie's ears.. I'm wondering if this is normal, because Stitch's ears are still floppy and down. I thought it was because her ear hair was weighing them down too much, but even after she's back from the grooming, her ears are still floppy. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do for the ears to rise? |
My Hobbes is 2 years old and his ears have always been floppy. I love him that way. It just depends on the dog. |
Is she a bigger yorkie? Sometimes the bigger one's have more issues with that. At this point, I'm not sure if you'll be able to get them to stand up. When they are puppies, their ear tips should be shaved and sometimes you might need to tape them but since that wasn't done, it may be too late. You could try taping and see..... |
Maddie is a larger girl at about 11-12 lbs. Her ears have always been down. |
My Chloe has floppy ears top, she is just over 5 pounds. |

I have a 16 punder with floppy ears :) I love her floppy ears |
When I got my Gracie she was about 12 weeks old. The breeder had rolled masking tape into a cylinder about an inch or less long and the tape roll is about the size of a match stick. The sticky side out and put it in her ears, going up and down, to help them stand up. The breeders told me one of her ears was falling down and to keep it in there until she was older and the cartilage in her ears had hardened. I don't know how old Stitch is, but I don't think it helps once they get older. I also am not sure if anyone would consider it cruel, but it didn't seem to bother her. That is how it was when I got her. BTW All the floppy eared Yorkies are darn cute! |
