Yorkie with collapsing trachea Good morning all. I am new to this wonderful site and have a special request. Anyone at all who knows anything regarding trachea collapses and surgery, meds, etc. please respond to me. My baby is 5 years old and is experiencing breathing trouble. We started him on lomotal - which I think is working at times. He was prescribed a steriod to help when he gets really bad. Now the dr. suggested that we do the stent to help him breathe. WHAT DO I DO? I haven't heard too many good things about this surgery - yet I am just beginning to do all of my research. So please, anyone with any information, please respond. It will be greatly appreciated. Have a good day! |
Hi! I am new to this site as well and I am sure you will find some answers here. I have a 3 year old yorkie who was diagnosed with a collapsed trachea when she was very young (before I got her) but she has not had any surgeries or trouble breathing. My Lucy does the reversed sneezing thing that I read about but other than that she hasn't had any trouble. Lucy is having some liver issues at this time that we are currently dealing with. I hope you find someone that has more experience with this. Keeping you and your little one in my thoughts. |
Oh and you may have more luck with responses if you post in the Sick & Injured / Emergencies Talk thread....I think we tend to look at those (at least I do) to see if we can help! Good luck! |
stent surgery Hi... My foster Cupid had the stent surgery as a last resort...I went to a specialist at Tufts in Grafton that specializes in respiratory issues... it will be a year this June that he has had the stent. You can read about him at Yorkies Inc. Placement Service under forever foster. There are also two yahoo chats that you could join for CT if you would like to hear about other people's personal experiences with CT... Kerri |
My vet said they would only do the surgery as a last resort. We keep Kayla cool, and try to never let her get excited. (thats hard) We have a humidifer in our bedroom and runs all the time. We give her Benedryl an hour before she goes to the vet so she doesn't have a spell. Keeping their weight down is another thing too. Kayla is on a special diet right now. Hope this helps some. |
