Removal of K9 deciduous teeth, anyone have experience? Please help, worried. Hello, My one year old Patron has two extra teeth behind his K9's and I would like to her feedback of people that have had it done. How is the procedure? Any worries? Please help out a fellow YT lover. Also, What type of anesthetic did they use? |
Yorkies have a tendency to retain puppy teeth which are usually removed during a spay/neuter. Two of my three had at least one retained puppy tooth. Not a big deal and many members of YT have experienced the same issues. For the oral health of your little girl any retained teeth need to be removed and at one year old sooner than later. Good luck and welcome to YT. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-protocol.html |
You'll need to get it done since they haven't come out yet. My girl had 9 adult teeth pulled. She did fine. Preop bloodwork was done. IV fluids given. Surgery on a heated surface, etc. Iso was given to maintain. Don't know what was used to knock down. Might have been masked down with Iso that time also. Propofol is a good one. They may want/need to use others also. There are a lot of acceptable ones. Maintenance with Iso or Sevo only. No halothane. |
Ziva had 7 teeth pulled at the time of her spay- I think she was actually more comfortable without the extra teeth stretching her gums. I was expecting a sore mouth but could hardly see where the teeth were removed, the gums went right back around the single teeth.Once I took her off the pain meds she went right back to her normal appetite. |
Bevo just had 3 retained baby teeth extracted....He did great. We had it done at the same time as his neuter. Its scary for your baby to have ANYTHING done, but it will be ok!!!:) |
Scarlett had the retained teeth pulled during her spay, too. It didn't seem to bother her at all. |
