I was hoping that by posting this here I could get responses concerning a dog food. I am thinking of putting my little girl on Stella & Chewy's dog food for smaller dogs. I was wondering if a anyone has experience with this food and where you get it. I have to buy online because of where I live. I have only found one place online that sells this brand in the 'for smaller dogs' type, it is a place called petsuppliesnow.com. I like what I have read about this food. It has everything I have been looking for in a food but my dog is a very picky eater so I am hoping it is something that will entice her to eat as well.
Would someone please let me know you experiences with this food and any online places that you know that have this food available? I would really appreciate any info you can give me. I hate to buy another bag of food that is going to go to waste.

Stella & Chewy's is a raw food. They don't make one specifically for smaller dogs and they don't have kibble. It's raw patties! :)

But I really love the S&C brand and feed it on occasion. Jackson LOVES it and does very well with it.

Stella & Chewys is a nice food, I've used it. I like the size options better in Primal - so that's what I use instead.

Both foods have a store locator on their website, it's really helpful. Lots of info too. Another brand is Natures Variety.

Stella & Chewy's comes in a raw frozen form and a freeze dried form that is not frozen. If you look on the Stella & Chewy's website you will see it does come in a smaller dog form. It is very hard to find, however. The website I mentioned on my original post has the freeze dried form for smaller dogs but that is the only place I have found so far.

We feed Stella & Chewy's (frozen), and my girls do very well on it. To my knowledge, it only comes in two different patty sizes. The actual food is no different; it's the weight of the patty and size of the bag it is packaged in that is different. The freeze-dried variety is great for travel if you don't have a backup kibble.

In the video on the Stella and Chewy site she talks about how small dogs have different needs than big dogs so they made this dog specifically for small dog nutrition. I don't know how truthful that is. I guess I should compare the regular and the smaller dog contents.
Have you tried the freeze dried form? Is it like a kibble? Do you think a dog can eat it instead of regular kibble?

I feed the freeze dried. No one carries locally so I order via Amazon with free shipping. A favorite is duck duck goose.

It's not like kibble. It looks just like the frozen patties (kind of like a raw hamburger patty), but it is freeze-dried. You could easily break it up into pieces to feed though, and I think some people like to rehydrate it with water before feeding. I really only use it for traveling or occasionally for a treat. They eat the (thawed) frozen at meal time at home.

I'm not sure which video you are talking about, but I know small dogs typically need to consume more calories on a per pound basis than larger dogs.

If you click on these links to the different varities, you'll see it just mentions different sized patties and bags: Stella & Chewy's - Dinners I don't see a mention of different formulas for different sized dogs.

On the Stella & Chewy's home page there is a little sign type icon that says, 'smaller dogs have it good.' Clicking on that takes me to a page that has a little info on smaller dogs and to the right is a video icon that plays a video about the smaller dog food. Since I have only found one dealer that supplies this freeze dried smaller dog food I am not sure what I will do. It is a good price for it. I guess I will try it since it comes in 6oz containers that I can try to see how she does with it. My main concern is if she will actually eat it since she has been so picky all her little life.

Levi eats freeze-dried Stella and Chewy's on occasion. I love the idea of raw food, but we travel way too much to do frozen raw - the freeze dried has been perfect. His favorite flavor is the lamb.

We've never had to order it; there are several stores close by that sell it.

The only higher grade dog food that is sold around here is Taste of the Wild and since she has not liked the can form of that I don't think I'm going to try the dry. She just does not seem to like kibble. Maybe if I rehydrate the freeze dried Stella & Chewy's she will be more attracted to it. At this point I am desperate to get her to eat the highest quality food that I can get into her. I have tried some good foods but if she won't eat them it doesn't matter how good for her they are.
Oh, thanks for posting that link. It would have made sense if I had just done that.

I've been feeding S & C freeze dried for quite sometime now. It's been the only kind that my 2 have consistently eaten. They gobble it up for the most part but on occasion will turn their nose up. But this has been the best food so far. Yay! I usually will feed half of a beef and half of a lamb in each bowl, making up a whole patty worth.

I like it as when we travel, I don't have to worry about refrigeration and portion control is already done. Just be careful if you decide to use the freeze dried as you will need to make sure your little one drinks water. You should make sure that your portions are correct because the food will expand in their stomachs. So if it doesn't look like you are feeding enough, it may very well be enough or too much once it all expands.

I'll just be glad if she will eat any of it. She has a tendency to eat a food when she first tries it and then turn her nose up after two or three days. Someone else had commented that some people rehydrate it for their dogs. Is that a good idea? She is good about drinking water.

I just picked up a bag of the freeze dried patties today ... I got the lamb variety for my crew to try and see if they like it. We do homecooked food, but I thought this was a nice option to add along with that. I will let you know how they like it!

Same here. My dogs love it. Great food and they are as healthy as can be! My one has never been on anything else. And Amazon is the place to get it

I think you will find it three to four dollars less a bag at petsuppliesnow.com. They got it to me within three business days, too. I am just starting to add it to what Gracie has been eating. I hope this goes well.

I tried to add water to it but they didn't (and I didn't either) like the consistency of it. It got kinda gross to me and then if they eat it right away, it got hard and pasty in the dish. I just crumble it up and they seem to go for it.

I also learned that if I sit close to where they eat, they will eat. lol, am I trained or what! :eek:

I have her on Brothers Complete kibble so I tried crumbling the Stella & Chewy's on that. She ate it but not very much. I think I will try putting the S&C in some chicken broth and see if it makes a difference. I'm going to get her to like it one way or another. To me it sounds like a really good dog food so even if she only eats a little it is better than what she has been getting.

S and C have kibble. I was thinking about trying it with my Yorkie being that he love the freeze dried food. I was hoping I could find more info about the kibble myself.
