Questions after surgery Our little girl was spayed and had 6 teeth removed on Thursday, she's doing wonderful! So well in fact that she wants to chew her chewies, but has had some bleeding after chewing a while. We take it away but she still wants it. The vets office is closed, so thought I would check here to see if anyone had any experience with this... Thanks so much! |
Her mouth probably needs more time to heal, esp. since she is bleeding. She'll be okay without it for a few more days. :) |
Glad to hear your girl is feeling well enough to want to chew. I agree with Crystal though, she needs a little more time to heal. :) |
Glad all went well with her surgery and that she is recuperating nicely. If she is bleeding, I think I would take away the chewy. What kind is it? If it is a bone/food type item, maybe try replacing it with something rubber that she can gnaw on (make sure it is a safe item that she cannot chew off a piece from). She will want to chew a lot as she cuts her new teeth, as you likely know. When Max had his baby teeth pulled, we let him chew gently on our fingers and we massaged his gums with clean fingers. |
