Ziwipeak Hi All, I was wandering if any of you feed Ziwipeak dog food? I recently heard about it and wanted to hear some opinions.. Thanks! :) |
I've not heard of this one, sorry. Hopefully, others will have some info on it. |
I have never used it. The fat content of 30% is extraordinarily high. Protein is 40%. I have read good reviews of this food on other websites, but I would be concerned about feeding it, especially to a small dog. |

Thanks for your replys. I did hear that if you do feed it, you cannot give too much of it (maybe just 1/4 of a cup a day) But wasnt sure... I'm still in a search for food that my little boy will like, and that will be good for him, and it's really hard to find  He will eat most of what I give him, not very picky, but I clearly see that there are some foods that he just does not like, or maybe the size of the kibble is too big, I dont know  |

However, the smaller quantity does not change the fat content of Ziwi Peak. It would still be 40% of your dog's diet. That is at least twice the amount of most kibbles. While dogs appear not to suffer clogged arteries like humans, excessive fat can still be a serious health risk. It may trigger pancreatitis or exacerbate existing health conditions. What foods have you tried with your little guy? |
Thanks for your help, I will not get Ziwipeak for my little guy. Since I learned about the differances in foods and stoped feeding Nutro, we tried foods like Orijen, Artemis, and Natural Balance. I liked Natural balance because they offer so many different flavors for him to choose from, but the size of the kibble seems to be to big for him and he doesn't eat it very well. As for Orijen, he ate it at first (I had to mix it with Nutro because it was our first switch) and later he also started to eat it much less. I guess again the size might have been part of the issue. Artemis, is a good small size kibble but i'd like to be able to switch or rotate foods once in a while because my little man gets tired of eating the same thing all the time. Any suggestions? :) |
I feed my boys Fromm's "Four-Star Nutritionals." (they receive a 5-star review on most sites ;)). All of their flavors have very small kibble, smaller than Orijen or the regular Natural Balance. The other food I use is Go! Endurance. I believe all of the Go! and Now! products from Petcurean have small kibble and it is all tasty stuff. My boys didn't do well on Orijen, Acana, or Merrick Before Grain. |
Ruby is a "tiny" so she had trouble with the larger kibble too. Right now she's eating Now! small breed, and the kibbles are tiny. She doesn't have any problems. I also will mix in a little NB roll food chopped up very small. (I only drop in a pinch of NB). |
I agree on the Natural Balance issue- I love the food, my kiddos do great when they eat it but after awhile they refuse it because the kibble is too big. Fromm has two grain free foods- surf and turf and beef and veggie frittata- both have super tiny kibble. I feed Go! and that is also a small kibble. |
Hi guys. Ive been feeding my little guy Ziwi Venison dry for 2 years now. Started when he was 5 months old. I winged him off of the EVO. Hes never had any health problems at all. No alegries and small hard oderless poop:) Vet checkups are excellent. For an 11lb bag at around 85 dollars it last for a good 4 months. Money well spent:) |
