Innova What do you guys think about Innova? I have heard confusing things. Looked it up and its a 5 star food but a lot of people say its no good now that its been bought by P&G (?). I'm just really confused. Sorry if I sound stupid. I just want my pups to have a good food. They have been on Solid Gold, and Wellness but didn't seem to like it. Then I switched to Innova trying to find one they would actually eat and they gobble it up everytime. I'm happy they like it but if its no good then Ill need to switch again. :( This food thing is tough with such picky eaters. I'm hoping Innova is a pretty good food and they can stay on it. They are doing so well with it. Thanks in advance for the advice. |
Not stupid at all. The concern is that Proctor & Gamble will diminish the quality of the food to increase the profit margin. Innova is moving into Petco (or Petsmart?) soon (or is it already there?). That means higher quantity production, which some people equate with lower quality. The orignators of Innova, Natura, insist that the quality will remain the same and that they will continue to personally oversee production. So far, everything appears to be the same with the food. However, quality foods in the past have been changed when bought out, and the packaging did not reflect the change until 6 months after the fact. Consumers were angry that they were not getting what they thought they were. Some people wish not to support P&G for other reasons and refuse to purchase any product associated with the company. |
I was feeding Innovia for awhile and then switched to Welliness. Eyes don't get that sleep in them near as much and they like Welliness. Bought a couple of cans of Innovia just because they were out of the Welliness chicken (canned) and now they won't eat it at all. Guess I'll stick with Welliness. |
So in your opinion Maximo, should I switch foods or should I wait and see and if anything changes THEN switch? I tried Wellness and have heard many good things but my guys just weren't interested. |

Some dogs have problems/more eye boogers with Wellness. |

I had my cat on California Natural, made by the same manufacturer's as Innova, and I switched as soon as I heard about the buyout- it gave me time to find something she liked and do a slow switch while I knew the quality was still the same. I was very concerned that the quality would diminish, P & G is going to want to up the profit margin, and they are going to have to change SOMETHING to now produce it for places like petsmart, there is just no way they can stick to their old ways and increase production by so much. |
If/when you decide to change, and if you have a pet specialty shop nearby, check out Fromm, Petcurean's Now! or Go!, Nature Variety's Prairie or Instinct. Depends on whether or not you want grains or grain-free. |
I recently went to my local pet food store and asked her what she thought about P&G. She said, "I have some wonderful friends who have worked for Natura for a very long time and we talk frequently. My friends said so far Natura is exactly the same as far as the product, production and quality control. They have changed nothing. But, she said her friends have told her if Natura started to change the product and quality of the food, they would all be looking for a new job because they could not stand behind their product. She said they are VERY passionate about their pets and the benefits of providing a quailty food. So.. far, from what she told me, said it is all the same. I posted this awhile ago, but it is an email Natura sent to me regarding P&G buyout. It was very interesting. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-products.html I found it rather interesting. |
