How much sleep? Wondering - How much time does/should a healthy Yorkie sleep? I am trying to figure out "normal" as Ziva is my very first dog. Typical sleep eat activity pattern 5:45am to potty, back to sleep 6:30am feed then some play, running around a little, training, ride to work, play, interact with kids 8:30 potty then watch while lounging in her bed or sleep 9:30 feed, then lounge and watch sometimes get up and interact with kids 11:30 potty train, walk, outside play for 15 12:00 feed then sometimes get up and interact with kids, lounge nap want to be on moms lap or held most of afternoon 3:30 potty, ride home, feed, play outside, walk, takes another nap 6:30 feed then play-this is her big energy time wants to play ball or tug, she does that cute hopping alot here too, this goes on as long as she can - probably half an hour 8:30 she takes a hour nap 9:30 last feed and then to sleep for the night My guess is she is sleeping 12+ hours in a day - not counting napping.. Is that too much, too little or about normal??? Thanks so much! Pam Ziva Female Yorkshire terrier, DOB 7/25/10, 3.0 lbs. (1.32kgs) |
That sounds pretty normal. Mine have BIG bursts of energy in the morning after they eat and again sometime at night- this is when they do the majority of their playing. Otherwise, they sleep a lot during the day. Obviously, if we are out and about for the day they are awake all day, but when home they sleep a lot. |
