Nature's Domain Salmon Meal & Sweet Potato It's time for us to switch from Kirkland's Chicken & Rice Puppy formula. Does anyone have any experience with Nature's Domain, particularly their Salmon Meal & Sweet Potato formula? It has a four star rating, it's grain free and it has "the good bacteria." Also, I *think* it's made by TOTW but not sure about that. I chose it over Kirkland's Adult Chicken & Rice formula... Did I make a mistake? Thanks in advance for your reply. :) |
Anyone? |
I have no experience with either of these foods, but just read the labels. If it has a specific named protien sourse as the first ingredient (I'm assuming it's "salmon meal")then another one or the same somewhere again in the next 5 ingredients - no corn or gluten - no by-products - is AFFCO approved to be "complete and balanced" then that would be a good food. Whether or not it's better or not as good as what you were feeding I couldn't tell you without seeing the ingredient list and the guaranteed analysis list of each. If it's "salmon meal and sweet potato" I'm willing to bet it's great:). |

Its a great food from my experience. I recommended it to my client and her Lab has thrived. No more allergies and her coat is so shiny and silky. They wanted a recommendation from Costco and it is the best food they carry. Off hand I dont know what the protein % but the ingredients are great. :) |
Thank you both! :) He's not gobbling it up as he did his Kirkland Chicken and Rice puppy food but he did eat some. The kibble is much bigger than the puppy food and I'm thinking that may be part of it (he's just under 3lbs). I'm going to mix a little Wellness canned food into it and see if that moistens the kibble and makes it easier for him to chew it. The Kirkland food has more meat content than the Nature's Domain but Nature's Domain is grain free and has the healthy bacteria. Both are rated 4 stars. I looked at the list of ingredients for both and I'm still not too sure about which of the two was "better." Is gain free better for yorkies? Is it better to feed him Chicken or Salmon? One thing I noticed while he was on the puppy food was that his poops were rather dry... Could that be because of the grain? |
Can you post the ingredients? |
Nm I found them online. It looks like a very good food! Nothing bad in the ingredient list, protein level is perfect for a yorkie. |
Thank you! I should have posted links to the reviews and ingredients. I'll do that now for future reference. :) Kirkland: Kirkland Dog Food | Review and Rating Nature's Domain: Nature’s Domain Dog Food | Review and Rating |

Thanks again. :) He's been nibbling at it here and there throghout the day but he's still not eating it as well as he was eating his puppy food. He WILL lick his bowl spotless if I mix it with the Wellness canned food, though. :) I hope he will eventually eat the kibble well enough by itself. I don't really want to mess with canned food if I don't have to and the kibble alone is a good source of nutrition for him. |
