Water I have noticed that Lucy’s pee is real yellow, How do I make her drink more water? |

You can lead a Yorkie to water, but you can't make em' drink LOL. Well, it's supposed to be kinda yellow, but if you think she's not getting enough water, the easiest thing you can do give some canned food. Also, make sure her water supply is always fresh (change it at least twice a day) and make sure the bowl is either stainless steel or coated ceramic (plastic can cause deposites in the water and it's bad for them as well as them not likeing the "taste"). If you really think she's not drinking enough, alot of people like a fountain type water dispenser that you can find at a pet store or online, they tend to like the "running" water vs. standing water.:) |

Have you ever heard of Ice Pups? They are treat that you make with water then freeze into Ice cube trays! Taycie goes CRAZY for them! Frozen Dog Treats | Healthy Liquid Dog Treat | The Honest Kitchen Using canned food will help them intake more water, but you may actually notice her drinking less, with canned food there is so much moisture in the food they do tend to drink less because they get more from the food. I also like to add a little bit of warm water over Taycie's kibble. She really likes that and it will encourage her to drink. |

It's bright yellow. we have a stainless steel bowls. The fountain water dispenser sounds really good but we bought one a few years ago, the first day when we got home from work every drop of water was all over the floor. The cats were attracted to the water release thingy inside. we never used it agin. I;m going to try the can food and see what happens. Thanks for you help :) |

 Thank you |

I have to liquify Teddy's food because he is prone to developing urinary crystals. I make chicken broth from scratch and put it in the fridge over night. The next day I scoop off all the fat. Then I dilute it with water and store it in the freezer. I add about 1/4 of his broth to his food. You could also buy chicken broth but make sure it is onion free. Walmart's Great value brand has no onions. I would caution you to be careful with canned foods - check the fat content and make sure you convert that fat to a dry matter basis. Canned foods are usually much higher in fat than kibble. Good luck! |
