EVO, regular Innova or Orijen... which one is better? HI EVERYONE!! in 2 weeks i am moving to the states and i am bringing my Yorkie with me. I have been feeding her Innova puppy ( Turkey and chicken), she is now 1 yr old and i am planning to change her food to adult food. I have been reading a lot about the best food for dogs and i came to the conclution that the best options (at least for me) would be Orijen, innova or Evo, but i am just not quite sure which one i should get. In costa rica we do not have any of those except for innova but because i am moving to the states i will be able to get any kind. so i wanted to know if any one here uses one of those brands and which one do u recommend ? P.S: I know i will have to make the transition from one food to the other very slowly n i have to give her the old food mixed with the new one so she doesnt get sick. Any advise or recomendations will be greatly appreciated!:animal-pa |
Ya, know, it's sad, because I fed Innova for a long time, but (not sure if you know this) since they were bought by Proctor and Gamble, I won't touch it. They no doubt are going to completely ruin some great pet foods. For that reason mainly, I'd go with the Orijen:) - it's one of the best |
I use Orijen and have recommended to friends, it's a personal choice, they use fresh organic raised or sustainably caught ingredients and I wanted something Canadian too, they are gluten, soy and corn free. Apparently if I ran out of food I could eat Teegy's |
Well, I can eliminate one for you. Evo is too high in fat for Yorkies. |

All of those are too high in protein and fat for Rio and Bullet, but then again they're small (3.5 lbs) and have sensitive tummies. I started out with Innova and Orijen when they were puppies but it's just too rich for them. I've had to find the balance between good quality dog food/low fat-low protein/something they'll actuallly eat! Right now I'm feeding them Avoderm but I've also fed them Canidae (Lamb & Rice) and Natural Balance (Lamb & Rice). |

A vet was telling me the dogs organs are built to break down the proteins. So if hey have organs the protein shouldn't be an issue. |
I missed the word healthy in that sentence |

Seriously??? I thought this was one of the better options so have been feeding it to mine. I have always free fed but just recently started feeding twice a day because both of my babies could stand to lose a little weight. |
