Just by looking at the ingrediants both Bil Jac and RC have a meal product as their first ingrediant instead of a meat which isn't supposed to be as good. |
I have mine on Diamond Lamb and Rice. No itching, no corn, no chicken by products and it has Fatty 3 & 6. |

Beet pulp DOES cause tear staining. That's why it is not recommended that white dogs eat foods that contain this. I have not had a problem with my yorkies with tear staining. Do you realize how difficult it is to find a dog food without it? LOL! The only food that I know of is Chicken Soup. |
Yes, I know!! I've been in the process of trying to find a better food for Lucky, so I've been doing alot of research. Chicken Soup is in my top 3, along w/ Canidae & Wellness. I'm trying to decide between those & I think the other 2 don't have beet pulp either. |

The members of this site should come up with a premium dog food that has only the best ingredients. Think we could market that? ;) |
I love this dog food and I feed them the raw. It is expensive but I think long term it is better for their health. You might want to check their website out. http://www.naturesvariety.com/ No beet pulp :p Cindy & The Gang :aimeeyork |

Good idea. We all want the best for our babies. My vet also recommended Royal Canin and Roxie has been on it for over 5 months with absolutely no problems such as itchin, allergies etc.... but I am always open to something better! Unless there is something I can order, of find at the local pet store, that is definitely better, I will keep using it because I don't want to switch and end up with a problem. :) |
Oops forgot to add an important issue! She has to want to eat it! :p |
Royal Canin does have corn it it which can cause itching. It is still the best food you can get at places like petco and petsmart. My dogs dont have any problems with it and really like the food. |
Royal Canin I had my Yorkie on the RC. He loved it, but he gained weight quite quickly. He was my little fat boy! The vet suggested I take him off the RC. The vet said her lab was on it and gained a lot of weight too. As soon as he was off the RC his weight went back to normal. He did have a lot of tartar build up at that time too, don't know if that's related. But I would think it would be good if you had a Yorkie that needed to gain some weight. |
Roxy eats Royal Canin and she loves it. I tried to switch her to Chicken Soup and she didnt like it at all. Shes not a big eater to begin with so I needed o stick with something that she likes and will actually eat instead of just looking at it...lol. Im very happy with it. I have never tried the wet one though. I give her Cesar wet once in awhile and to tell the truth I have no idea whats in that. |
Miko is on Royal Canin also and he loves it. Of course his is vet prescribed RC hepatic diet, but up until he started eating this, he was a very picky eater. |

Also, Chicken Meal and Lamb Meal are fine ingredients. That just means it's been ground up, but still started out as good quality Chicken or Lamb. By-products, corn and preservatives are the most important to avoid (like what's in Bil-Jac). Loki was fed Natural Balance for a long time until I found Canidae, which I am really happy with. He seems to like it too! |
