HUGE knot at injection site. I know that a knot at the injection site after vaccines isn't necesarily abnormal, but when does it become something to worry about? Whit got her puppy exam + 2nd round of shots on wednesday, and over the last cpl of days she has developed a pretty big hard lump at the site. It's about the size of a medium gumball...really can't think of another comparison. lol. It doesn't hurt her at all and after about 8 hours from the time she got her shots, she has been perfectly normal and playful. Of course it takes me way off guard to feel it, and I think about it much more than she does! |
Pixie had a pretty good sized lump after an injection but not the size of a gum ball. I took her in for my peace of mind. It didn't bother her at all either. I would think Whitney's is ok but due to the size I would call or visit the vet just to be sure. |
ZoE has had lumps at the site of almost all of her puppy shots. They all went away within a week, except the rabies one, which lasted two weeks. I don't know what size a medium gumball is...but ZoE's were the size of a dime...rabies the size of a penny. Her vet said it was fine as long as from when I notice it, each day it got smaller. If it got larger, he said to bring her in. They always progressively got smaller :) |
You can do warm compresses to get it down a little, and rub it everyday. Pnut had a lump from the last time he had his shots and it took like 2 months to go away.. I even took him back for a check up and the Vet told me it was from the vaccines. Rub it out!! it really helps |
Thanks for the peace of mind! I know lumps are pretty normal, just wasn't sure about the size. She has a follow-up in 2 weeks so I guess I'll just keep an eye on it. |
