So glad you found a good surgeon to eval her! I am sorry though that she has muscle atrophy and needs surgery, although I'm sure in the long run this will help her with her mobility. We will be praying for her and her recovery, and for mommy as this sounds like quite an adventure for all. |
Gidget - Thank you for your prayers. Talked to the surgeon yesterday evening and all went very well. The grove for her knee cap was very shallow, and she said this was a very needed surgery. The UofM called today and said she is up and doing great - and can come home. We have a very large kennel all setup for her return. Now on to the recovery! |
Wonderful news!!! So glad to hear all went well. It sounds like the poor pup really needed the surgery, so it was good it was done. We will keep praying for a full recovery and for mommy! |
My 13 yr old Yorkie was just diagnosed with LP. The vet tells me he's too old for surgery and I agree. We are trying different meds to relieve his pain and to help him walk. Can anyone help me with meds thay have tried and it helped ? |
I had a little elderly girl w LP, and my vet gave her Glucosamine chrondroitin tablets (1/2 tab) to take daily. I got it through my vet because of the dosing of such a tiny dog. |
:aimeeyork Thank you for the info. My little guy is on pain meds and arthritis meds. The vet won't do the surgery because of his age. He will be 14 this June. I will ask the vet about the meds you are using. It's so hard to get the right dose because he's so tiny, weighing only 4 lbs. Plus getting the meds in him is a problem. Thanks again. |
