Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil I bought some Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil for Bentley. When I put it in his food he wants nothing to do with it. It says one pump daily for his size. I'm sure this is a ridiculous question but I have to ask. Do I have to put it in his food? Can I just give him the dose? Like in his mouth? If not, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get him to eat his food with it? Do they make it in tablets (he's great about taking tablets)? Thanks in advance for your help. :) |
Shoot, mine like it when I put it on their food. I just called the company and asked, and they said it's fine to put it on a spoon. I don't think I'd force it on him though if he doesn't like it. You might try putting just a drop on his food and see if he'll eat it. If so, gradually add a tiny bit more every meal until you get to the recommended amount. I used to give it to them regularly, but I switched to a food with Omega 3 (Orijen) and decided they didn't need more. The company also makes treats with Omega 3 (Yummy Chummies) that my dogs love. Not sure if a treat is the recommended way to get them salmon oil tho. |

And I wanted to feed Orijen too but mine won't eati it or Arcana. I do primarily feed raw though but I wanted a good quality kibble and those were my first 2 choices! Is there one flavor they like more than the others? |
I went and got pills. They are gel capsules though and they reccomend half. So I have to break it open and put it on his food. Defeating the purpose. Ugghhh...! Tonight though I decided I put the dose inside a pill pocket treat. I just dumped it in from the capsule. Worked like a charm bc the pill pockets have such a strong smell it must haveoverpowered the oil smell and taste. I'm so happy he took it bc for some reason his hair seems dull lately. And it feels so coarse. It used to be shiny and silky so its been bothering me. I'm hoping this helps. He eats Solid Gold but someone suggested I switch to Nurto Natrual Balance bc its made for skin and coat. They don't seem to like it though. What's your opinion on it? I know Solid Gold is good. I had switched to Wellness recently from Solid Gold. But I think the switch is what caused his hair to change so I switched back. Petco carries Solid Gold but not Petsmart. That's the issue with it. Petco is much further away from where I live than Petsmart. So iv been looking for something I could get there. So far though, I'm not finding anything. Thanks for the advice. |
