Mom's of 2 babies.. Food HELP! I'm in a bind. We recently purchased a new puppy (4 weeks old) and she is extremely small already. She will not come home for a little while, but I want to be prepared. We already have a 1 year old yorkie who we feed Wellness Small Breed. She LOVES it. However, she is not on a schedule. She eats at different times and likes to just eat whenever. We do not have a weight problem, so this has been okay. Do I need to try and find a new food that is for All Ages, or is it necessary for our new baby to get puppy food? I was just going to put her on Wellness Puppy and keep Bri on the Small Breed, but that would require some sort of schedule and I'm not sure how Bri will do on that. She's already SUPER picky! Thanks!! |
Puppy food is not necessary, especially for small breeds. Larger breed dogs require food with the right cal/phos ratio. Any food that is labeled for all life stages is appropriate. However, puppies should probably be kept on the same food the breeder is feeding until the pup is settled very well in a new home, especially pups that are smaller. |
