Fish oil? huxtyns hair isnt shiny at all, it looks dry. A lady from town said to break open a capsule of fish oil and put it in his food. Has anyone ever heard of that? |
Yes you can add fish oil to your dog's food if you want to, but I would not just break open any old fish oil capsule. We use Nordic Naturals Omega 3 pet capsules and I give one capsule per day to my dogs (6.5 lbs, 8 lbs and 9 lbs). That is a therapeutic dose. |
I would definitely make sure that you are using a product specifically made for pups. I would not use a human capsule or supplement, as you will not be able to accurately administer a correct dosage. As wonderful as the benefits are for Omega 3 fatty acids, they are still that: fatty acids; and care must be taken not to overdose the amount of fats within our pups diet as chronic illness such as pancreatitis is a possibility. There are many brands of canine designed Omega 3 supplements which are out there. I am positive that you will find one at your local pet boutique. |
I've always used the NOW brand Omega-3 and put 5 drops over their food once daily. Never a problem here anyway. |
