Yeast infection issue I'm still working on this yeast problem, basically because the smell is lingering. Getting her at 3 yrs. old, the previous owners said that their son was allergic to her, thus they sold her to us, my personal opinion is that they were not diligent in addressing this yeast problem. I have taken her to the vet twice, did antibiotics, now have changed her diet, eliminated most of grains, bought many shampoos, presently giving her Azmira Yeast & Fungal infection herbal drops twice a day as well as coconut oil. So it has been about a month, and after exhausting the internet on this issue, they say that it could take a month for every year that she has had this issue (I'm assuming three), I put out this plea for anyone that has gone through this before and hoping to get some feedback. thanks |

I have heard the same thing from the herbal store here...it takes about one month for every year you've had the problem for it to heal. What were, or are, her symptoms of yeast infection? |

She is just irritated with her skin and drags around on the carpet, she hasn't lost any hair, but I know she is miserable, she smells like crap most of the time, I give her a bath every other day, the smell just comes back. |

I'm sorry...I wish she felt better. Have you had a skin scraping done to make sure of what it is? My first Yorkie had demodex mange...he was itchy and scabby with flakey, oily skin. We had a skin scraping done and he was treated for demodex...it cleared up and he never had another bought with it. |

Yes had a skin scraping and the vet prescribed antibiotics twice and they did not work, not going back there anymore, waste of time and money. Same symptons that you describe, is demodex a cream, or what, taken orally or topically? |

Demodex mange (or Demodectic mange) is actually a mite. Here is a link to a page with some info: Demodectic Mange (Red, Puppy, and Follicular Mange) in Dogs You can search online for more information and more links. I'm, not saying this is what your Yorkie has but it wouldn't hurt to check it out and have a scraping done just to be sure. |

My Molly used to get yeast infections on feet alot, we tried all kinds of drugs with her, and the one that finally worked was Ketoconazole, we had to have it compounded for her weight. |

Yes, I have a puggle/ jack russell mix who has had this same annoying problem. And I work at a veterinary clinic, and so thankfully i get discounts. Because this is a non stop problem. ANd he is doing very good right now. Its is also Ketoconazole that works for him. But it has some bad side effects so you cant keep them on it permantly althought i wish i could. I just give it to him for a week every time he starts to smell yeasty. ANd also give baths with Hexadene three times a week. ANd he doesnt smell like yeast anymore. I also give him Zyrtec for whatever it is that he is allergic to. And this helps alot with the itching. We also have done skin scrapings. And he eats a grain free food. Also yogurt , plain yogurt is very good for dogs with yeast infections. I add a tsp to their breakfast every morning. Hope this helps |

I looked at this site, but she doesn't have any lesion, more like a rash on her belly, very dry skin and is constantly dragging her stomach on the carpet for relief, as well as licking her paws. I'm looking for any help I can get, running out of methods. |

natural alternatives for yeast...... Externally, I would sop her in Listerine, plain old brown kind. The next day I would bathe her in an antiseptic shampoo that was herb based (tea tree or neem oi.) Extra Virgin Coconut oil helps for internal yeast. Does anyone subscribing to this thread have any experience with colloidal silver products on yeast issues? |

My dog Daisy has had yeast infections. We treated her in the past with ketoconazole and used Maleseb Shampoo and it was very effective. |
