Lost Tooth? I was playing tug of war with my 6 month old Yorkie when I noticed blood on the rope. I checked his mouth and I see a small place in the back with no tooth, and it's bleeding. When he was neutered last week the vet said he had no retained baby teeth. Does this mean he just lost an adult tooth? That would be really bad if he was losing adult teeth at this age!:( |
Retained baby teeth, are when the adult tooth has already came in and the baby one in that same place hasnt fallen out. ANd so they have to remove them. I hope i explained that okay, lol. But at 6 months it could have still been a baby tooth. At the clinic where i work, there are lots of puppies who get spayed and neutered who still have baby teeth. But we dont pull them cause when the adult one comes in it will normally push out the baby tooth. Unless its like i said in the beginning where it is retained and the adult one is already in in which case it has to be pulled, cause it obviously isnt coming out on its own. I hope that made a little bit of sense, lol. I am terrible at explaining things in writing. |
Thanks Farleys. I'll wait a few weeks and check his mouth again to see if an adult tooth has replaced it. Even if he lost an adult tooth, there's not much I can do about it. I've only brushed his teeth once, I need to start doing it more often. |
