Sudden Aggression?? Tucker for the past week or so has been extremely aggressive.. and I dont know why. He will chase down and try to attack the cats, he will growl and snap at them as they walk by his kennel at night. He has growled and snapped at my husband, my kids and at one of the daycare kids that I watch. Not making any contact. He even has growled at his "sister" Lexee when she tries to get into the kennel at night to sleep. He never growls at her. Its getting to the point that I have to keep him in his crate alot during the day so he doesnt hurt someone or the cats. Nothing here has changed, except his food. He is eating, pooping and playing like normal and doesnt seem to be in any kind of pain. I tell him NO in a sharp voice when he starts but it doesnt seem to stop him any. Is there anything else that I can do.. his behavior is baffeling and quite worrisome. I cant have a dog who bites in my house. :(... |
I would get a vet check to be sure he is neurologically and otherwise sound. |
I agree on the vet check. My Oliver was acting like this and a trip to the vet found he had an ear infection. Once we started him on meds he was back to his old self. |
I agree with the others. I would have my vet check him out completely before I looked elsewhere. |
If this aggression is out of nowhere a vet check is certainly in order. How old is Tucker? Is he fixed? Also- leaving him in the crate for long periods of time could make the problem worse. Getting him out for long walks and play times and chances to get really tired will work better at curbing aggression then spending long periods in a crate. |

He is 2 and yes he is fixed has been since he was 4 months old. Before this he was only in his kennel when we left the house and at night. Ive only been puttin him in his kennel when he acts out several times in a row.. as a time out thing, but it is several times a day now. :( The weather has been much nicer here lately and we have been going for more daily walks so he is getting plenty of excerise. Thanks all for your help and I will def. get him in to see the vets. |
