asia- 5 puppy shot sessions? Coco is 16 weeks old and I've had her for a week. When i picked her up, she already had 4 puppy shot sessions and took her to the vet the day after. the vet said to watch her carefully and see how she adjusts to the new home and come bk a week later for her last shots. So i safely assumed it'd be her rabies. I went in today and was told its her 5th puppy shot session and 2 weeks later she will get rabies. then wait 2 more weeks for antibody test then she can meet her big brother and cousin... OI~ I thought puppies only have 3 sessions... or at least mickey did (14 yrs ago :P) i personally think 5 is a little excessive but hey i'm in korea so i gotta follow the korean shots list... luckily vet prices are pretty cheap in korea... today's visit only costed 35$ (US/CAD eq) anyone else's country also have 5 puppy shot sessions before rabies? p.s now that shes had her 5 puppy shot sessions and waiting for rabies, can she still meet human friends? or is that off limits too? |
Nope. That would be overvaccinating and can lead to potentially serious health problems over time. She does need a final distemper/parvo at 16 weeks or after (and shouldn't be around other dogs with unknown history until 1-2 weeks after that), but too many round were given already. They either started too early or gave the combo too often or both. There is a major push in the US to give less vaccines in hopes of avoiding possible issues later (immune mediated diseases for instance). |
i thought so too!!!! but under the korean law all adopted puppies need all the shots or i get fined. |
Youve got to do it if its the law |
