High BUN (blood urea nitrogen) My name is Lauren Reid and I am currently a veterinary resident in small animal internal medicine practicing at Auburn University. I am looking for Yorkies that have high BUN with normal kidney function. Apparently there are a few Yorkies out there that have high BUN for unexplained reasons. I am conducting a small study to determine the cause of elevated BUN in these seemingly normal Yorkies. Please contact me if your veterinarian has diagnosed your Yorkie with high BUN. I am only looking for Yorkies that do not have renal failure. However, it is possible your vet may have told you that elevated BUN indicates your dog has renal failure, when it may not in your Yorkie. Please reply to this post if you or someone you know has a Yorkie with high BUN. |

Lauren, saw your post on YorkieTalk.com. I see that your post was in March of 2011 and didn't know if you were still conducting your study with Yorkies that have a high BUN. My Yorkie has been diagnosed with renal failure due to a high BUN, but all other levels are normal. If you have completed your study, is there a site that I can review the results. Thanks so much. |
Study I would like to know if the study is complete or any potential findings too. |
anyone hear anything about these results. |

Forgive me for being so hostile towards doctors. |
My Coco had a high BUN (between 32 and 36). Vet has her on Azodyl 2x/day and her level is down to 27 and we're working to get that to 25 or below. She has normal kidney function and all her other numbers are fine. Her blood is tested every 1-3 months. |
