If you feed him anything other than dog food, like scrambled egg, he's probably holding out on you. If you give him 'extras', always put them in his food bowl mixed with his food, never from the table and never separately. If you want to get him out of the habit completely, you may have to add some egg to his food at each meal, gradually decreasing the amount each time till finally he will eat without the addition. You will have to blend it so he cannot just pick out the egg, without eating the food. This can take as long as 1-2 weeks or more. Sometimes they start refusing and you'll have to add more egg in than you want to get them eating again... then start decreasing the amount again. You may even have to go to every other day, every third day... etc. until he stops looking for it. Good Luck! |
Oh and I forgot to add: Hi! and Welcome to YT! :D |

My yorkie, Hershey, was the same way. He is 8 months old and I have tried numerous types of kibble and canned food. He was never very interested in any of them. He would go all day without eating (except for scrambled eggs - must be a yorkie thing haha). I have very recently switched to raw and he eagerly awaits his dinner now. He will finish eating in as little as 3-5 minutes. You might want to give raw a try. |
A little parmesan cheese can do wonders. So does warming the food a little. If the dog can smell the food it is more tempting. If you do heat it, give it a good stir to even out the temp and make sure it is not too hot before serving. |
