Problem w dog licking genitals until they bleed, any help
 
hi, new to this site, hope i am doing this all correctly.
i have a 10 month old female yorkie. she just went thru heat, finished about a week or so ago. just in the last 24 hours, she has been licking herself so bad that she is nearly bleeding (actually little specks of blood on the surface - like bad chaffing). any suggestions on what i can do for her. looks painful. i put some bag balm on it for critters, not sure if poisonous for her. she is about 5 pds.
pls help if u have any input. will take her to the vet if necessary, i do as needed. she has cost me more in vet bills than i paid for her, lol. just want u all to know that i will do what is necessary for the puppy. thx bunches for any input.

You should deff take her to the vet ASAP as it sounds like she has an infection like a UTI or Pyometra. Either one of those need immediate attention.

Run don't walk to the nearest Vet. Your baby is in pain. They lick to try and make the pain go away.

just wanted to let u all know that bella is gonna be just fine. she had a staff infection. she is worth a lot now, in vet bills, but worth more just for how lovable she is. thx for all ur input.

That's a skin infecton. Was it on the outside of the vulva? Thought sure she would have a uterine infecton of some kind. What type of medication did the Vet. give her?

meds
 
steriod and antiobiotic shot. he said it was in her cells. made perfect sense when he said it!

Ahhhh, good news and she is getting help. Thank you for being a good momma. I'll bet she will feel much better soon.

I am glad to hear you took Bella in and she is doing better. I know what you mean about her being worth a lot. I call Buster my money pit. For a while it seemed we were running to the vet every week dealing with some new issue. I have received the reimbursement of my investment in love and licks = priceless. Have a wonderful time with your sweet Bella.

So glad you got her the meds she needs, to get well....That did sound uncomfortable :eek: Yeah, these little ones can be high maintenance, but they're worth it, on most days lololol
