Pepto-bismol Minnie is 3 lbs can anyone help me with dosage for Pepto-Bismol and how often? Thank you Carol |
I have been told it is 1 tsp per 10 pounds and 1 tsp per 5 pounds. I'm not so sure I would give it to a 3 pound baby. Does she have diahrea? Have you tried feeding plain rice? I have found that works well. |
Hi, what is wrong with your baby? Nausea? Vomiting? Loss of appetite? Diarrhea? Diarrhea with blood is very serious. If your vet approves the med for your baby The Veterinary Drug Handbook says for acute diarrhea give Pepto 1ml per 5kg or 1 ml per 5X2.2=11lbs. SO if the baby weighs 5 lbs --1/2 ml; if under 5 lbs I would give 1/3 or .3 mls no more than 3 times a day. But, always ask your vet what to give. The meds that the vet might need to prescribe might not be comaptible with the pepto. Don't know if it helps you I hope your baby is all better without meds.. |
Thank you I gave her a small amount last night atfer calling an emergency vet and I have been feeding her Chicken and Rice. She just has the runs, no fever ,blood in stools etc. she is eating well, playing, and doesn't seem sick at all. Carol |
Well it looks like you already administered it but when Chachi took Keopectate the vet said to give 3 ccs. |
