yorkie weak and small my yorkie is really acting like if she was totally small. she is 7 months and she is scared of people outside. I know that it takes her a long time to get used to something. Some people say that it is because she is weak and scared that is also why her ears are dripping. I dont think my yorkie is weak but is that normal for puppies to be like that? |
Are her ears dripping or drooping? At any rate, get her to the vet and get a blood, urine test, etc., to be sure she has normal blood chemistry, no fever and/or hasn't contracted something. Once she is cleared by the vet, get on this site and read all of the ways that Yorkie lovers deal with the various problems of these occasionally very delicate and sensitive little dogs. These people have realtime experience and answers and you will need to read through everything and decide what to try first, second, etc. Patient trial and error and constant positive reinforcement will go a long way toward dealing with your little girl once her health status is confirmed. But read, read, read. |
I mean the ears are just hanging. They wont stand up. |

Do you keep the ear flaps shaved? The weight of hair can cause the ears to flop. The other behavior you described, being fearful of anything new, is a training issue. Take your pup for daily walks and take her places as often as possible to expose her to new things. Build up her confidence by always being calm and confident yourself. Don't coddle her or comfort her when she appears fearful. If she is afraid of an object, teach her to "check it out." If she moves near the object or person even slightly, praise her and give her a treat. Do this for each step she takes, or if she sniffs the object. Make everything an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Lots of exposure is key. |
When I got Beamer at a year old one of his ears insisted on being "floppy". Wouldn't stand up. I had the groomer tip his ears, but that one ear was stubborn (just like Beamer!:D) Then all of a sudden one day it decided it was time to stand up. Just keep your little ones ears tipped and eventually they may decide it is time to stand up proud.:) |
