Fish Oil My yorkie is 9 weeks old and i was wondering is that to young to give her fish oil capsules |
I don't know whether it is or not, when Harley was 6 weeks old I brought lobsters to the breeders and let him lick all the juice from my hands (a visit not a pick up). he's since been slowly weened on fish and loves it, fish is now part of his daily diet. My only caution is with anything dealing with fish it can sometimes be rich and too much for their tummies at once. But I don't know much about fish oil capsels. I hope someone who's familiar with them can help. |
Are the capsules designated for a pup her size, or are they human supplements? I would suggest using a fish oil designed specifically for them. Grizzly Salmon Oil makes one specifically for pups, that comes in a pump container. At this stage they are burning kcalories fast, so adding it to their food is a good idea not only for the increased health benefits to their organ systems, but also for the ability to use the omega 3 as a fast burning energy source. |
Just be careful with fish oil with pregnant girls, it is known to cause cleft palates in puppies. |
If your going to feed fish oil it could cause diarrhea in one so young. Are you looking for something for dry skin and coat? Keep in mind that chicken and fish are major allergy foods too and can cause severe itching, ear infections, diarrhea and such. |
