Switching to Royal Canin Well, I got a free coupon from AKC for Royal Canin. So I thought I would give it a shot, for free you can't complain. Jett hasn't wanted to eat more than 3 or 4 pieces of food the last couple of days, so I went to Petco and got some all natural chicken and rice 'wet food'. Came home, tried to get him to eat the wet food, not even a NIBBLE!! Tried our normal Wellness puppy, nothing. So I thought well I'll try the Royal Canin. He ate a LOT for a little guy!!! He and Bella both gobbled it up!!!! Guess we are making a change!!! :D |
Royal Canin sucks,,,,i wont use it on my puppy even though it is free |
My pup is on Royal Canin too and gobbles it right up :D |
Personally, I have two issues with their kibble. I do not believe corn gluten meal should be in canine food, much less in the top five; and while the 2007 recall changed RCs outsourcing of vegetable proteins, it did not change their outsourcing of meat proteins throughout the world. There are several on the forum who do indeed feed RC and have stated that they have received fine results. Nutritional science is extraordinary in that while organs and organ systems function with some consistency across species, each individual creature has a uniqueness as to what works effectively for them and their particular metabolic mechanics, and disease processes. Finding out what that is, is best when done by those closest. Good luck  |
Thanks, I was just glad to see my babies, HAPPILY eat!! I think I will let them finish this bag, and maybe try something else. We have done Blue Buffalo, Avoderm, Wellness, and now Royal Canin. TOo many foods on the market......those of us with picky dogs, have a hard time!! (Maybe they like the lesser quality food, because its like junk food to them.....like McDonalds is to us??) |
Ohhhhhh geez, so now I just went to the dog food reviews.....Royal Canin is a LOW 3 out of 6.......ugh. Why can't this just be easy!!! |
I can sympathize I have 2 VERY picky eaters too! We've been thru a slew of different foods....they turn their nose up at the premium brands I offer...but go to my sisters and gobble up her lower quality food:rolleyes:...Like you said earlier..it's probably like Mcdonalds to them! But not necessarily nutritious.:( A store here in town offers free samples of their premium foods...you might check around and see if you have a shop close by that offers free samples...you might find a brand they like. Don't know if they have feed and grain stores where you live..but they also tend to carry premium foods and offer samples. We just switched to The great life and they seem to really like it! Keeping my fingers crossed.. also feed them a little of Evo. Good luck! |
