Probiodics Jett has the poops, all due to my fault. I gave him some table food, which I KNEW better than to do, he has a very sensitive stomach...does fine on dog food, within an hour or so of giving him people food, he gets diarrhea!! ( I gave him some cheese and liver treats for training today, plus he got ahold of several pieces of my grandsons hot dog) Would probiodics help with his sensitive tummy?? I have seen it at Petsmart and Petco, but was never sure if it was a good thing or not?? Any thoughts?? His diarrhea is better today, no poops since 8pm last night. He has been to the vet 2 times since we got him 2 weeks ago, (for a cough and well puppy check) and all checks out great. He is only coughing about once a day now, or not at all. So that is good!! Thanks all in advance for the advice!!! |
Feeding him table scraps, especially hot dogs, is asking for trouble. Just a little piece of a hot dog, bacon, sausage, or ham has been known to trigger pancreatitis in Yorkies. Pancreatitis is very serious and can be deadly. An episode can easily run into the thousands of dollars to treat, too. |
I am going to have to have a serious talk with my grandson about him feeding the dogs. He is only 3, but can have a conversation like an adult. No more feeding the dogs!!! (He thought he was doing something good by sharing with Jett.......:( ) |
Well back to the vet we went. I found 5 piles of very watery poo in our kitchen/dining/family room, all from last night, as they were slightly dried. I weighed him and he was down to 1 pound 4 ozs from 1 pound 9 ozs. Was not going to wait a bit!!!! They tested him for worms, coccidia, guardia....etc. All clear. Vet said was probably the table food from yesterday! (I think they at the vets office think I lost my mind, this is his 3rd visit in 2 weeks. LOL) He is eating and drinking, and no diarrhea today so far!!! Dang this baby is going to give me a heart attack. I get so freaked out, because he is sooooooooo little and could go downhill so easy!! He is almost 16 weeks, but a tiny little guy! |
I bought the probiotics powder at the vet's office that you put on their food. Harley wouldn't even touch his food with it on there. So I found a dry kibble with the probiotics already added in (Earthborn Holistic Puppy Vantage). He hasn't had much tummy trouble since. No hot dogs though!! LOL. |

Try giving him some banana, it always works for my Lola. I would stay away from the cheese for now also. |

You can ask Anne, Wylie's Mom, about what probiodics they give Wylie and Marcel. Zipp has a sensitive tummy too but he's 16 yrs old plus and on KD but is slipped some veggies, cheese, yogurt. Chicken just tears up his tummy. Must be the different proteins and fats. |
