fixing diarrhea we have a tiny 6 mth old who had chronic runny diarrhea, went to the local health animal store and he told us to use canned food for older dogs, mix with a little pure pumpkin, sprinkle with oatmeal flakes and mix and feed, within 24 hours he was fine and has been since. they also said if this didnt work as well put a little egg with it. we havent had any diarrhea since feeding this and the older dog food formula has alot of vitamins, so really hope this helps:) |
I would think with a dog that has Chronic diarrhea there might be something going on. Have you taken your dog to the Vet? |
You probably want to take him to the vet to rule out any parasite or other major issue. Like Vicki said, since it's chronic, it'd be better to take him to the vet to be on the safe side. Good luck!! |
Diarrhea is not a disease itself but rather a symptom that something is not right with your dog's health or gastrointestinal system. Many dogs, like humans, may occasionally suffer from an acute bout of diarrhea. If your dog is well and has no other symptoms other than a frequent loose bowel motion there is probably no cause for immediate alarm and you can treat it at home. There are many causes for diarrhea, for example your dog may have eaten something disagreeable. Other causes could include a sudden change in diet, food allergies, worm infestation or viral or bacterial infection. If your dog has chronic diarrhea then medical advice should be sought. Always check with your vet if diarrhea is severe or persistent. Diarrhea can be life threatening. If it reoccurs...please see your Vet so you can find out what the underlying problem is. |

Well said! Taycie had diaherra about 6 months old. I took her in and it was a worm. It is better to be on the safe side and take them in if it is chronic. |

Chronic diarrhea (or, even acute diarrhea) in a puppy needs to be assessed thoroughly by a vet. I'd be very nervous about the solution you found (without his system being assessed by a vet), but am glad that he may be feeling better.:) |
