Seizures My dogs' name is Max:aimeeyork. He is about 2 and a half years old. He started having mini episodes of seizures last year. He doesn't have them too opfetn, but maybe it does happen more than it should. It only lasts about 2-3 minutes. I called the vet today, after he had one, and he told me that there is a possibility that my dog may have epilepsy. I need to take him and get some blood work done... I'm just wondering if anyone here is dealing, or has dealt with the same thing. |
Sorry to hear about Max. There are many people here with dogs who are managing seizures with medication. Definitely follow your vet's instructions for testing and treatment. |
My Becca was epileptic (idiopathic epilepsy). It's very important that you get Max to the vet as soon as possible so they can begin treating his seizures. The seizures will affect the neural pathways in the brain, allowing more frequent and severe seizures to occur, which will in turn cause more damage in the brain. Beginning treatment early helps ensure your little guy will have a long healthy life. Fortunately, most seizures can be easily controlled by medication these days. Becca took Phenobarbital once a day for years and it eliminated her seizures. Please let us know what the vet says! :) Bonny |
