what is the best way to give a liquid antibiotic? Hi everyone! Coco was prescribed liquid tetracycline and I only need to give him a little dose of 2ml three times daily. I'm just wondering do you guys use any particular method in order for them to swallow it or do I just give it pure? Please let me know it's a first for me! Thanks a bunch! -Maria and Coco xoxox |
Harley needed some meds a while back and I gave it in a syringe, I just had someone hold him, put it in the corner of his mouth and squirt, tipped his head back for a second until he swallowed and it was done. |
Maggie May has to have Proin 2x a day. I just hold her, kiss on her and rub her ears and then I grab a bit of her hair around the corner of her mouth and put the syringe into the side of her mouth and squirt. Then I give her lovin's and a treat. |

that's it. It's easy. squirt it in slow, let them swallow a bit at a time. |
Okay great that's what I'll do! Wish me luck lol Thanks guys Maria&Coco |
my vet told me to squirt it into her cheek so she didnt inhale it and choke. She was fine with taking it that way :p |
I hope your little one gets better fast |
thank you so much i hope he does get better soon too :) |
Sometimes when Sammy gives me a hard time with medicine I would measure the liquid in the syringe, then squirt in into the palm of my hand and he would lick it off. Or sometimes he likes to lick the medicine off a spoon. |
oh my... after reading this post one of my bigger guys is ill and I have to give him meds. The thing is he is scared of everything so I had to chase him over the whole house to catch him to give him meds. He fought not to open his mouth and then licks me to death!! The other big guy showed his teeth...hmmm I don't think so!! Of course my little yorkie took my hand signal to lay down and took her meds like a champ:p |
