Is Fruit OK?
 
Daisy loves all kinds of fruit. Any time I am eating fruit she is going nuts. I know grapes and raisins are NOT ok but what about dried/dehydrated apricots? Can she have oranges? I only give her a few small bites but I am always wondering if these are ok to give her. Thanks for any input.

I would avoid dried fruits because they are chemically treated. Mine love bits of apple, blueberries. pineapple and occasional bits of banana.

Thanks for the advise. She loves the dried apricots so much but I will not give her anymore. Daisy loves apples and adores blueberries too. I was surprised to see that she likes oranges too. lol She loves most veggies too. Teddy doesn't like any of these.

You know the one food my furkids will not eat is oranges. I've tried giving them a small piece to see if they would eat it but nope they won't eat it, to bitter for them I guess. They love all other fruit though and really love their veggies too!!

Hot Rod loves veggies while Maggie May is picky about them. Neither are really crazy about fruits.

My dogs love oranges and I will usually split 1 orange segment 3 ways and give each dog a little bit. I have not witnessed a laxative effect from oranges as I feed them in moderation. They come running over when they see an orange being peeled and Daisy will bark and bark for some. They also like apples, pears, bananas, watermelon, blueberries, raspberries, and peaches.

Thanks for the link sugarmamma. I was surprised that she liked oranges. I only give her a tiny bit of fruit when I give her any. I kinda figured it wouldn't be good to give them very much. I guess it won't hurt just to give her a little. Thanks for everyone's input.

I'm still feeling guilty over this: before I knew grapes were bad for dogs I fed my one dog probably 5-10 grapes a day for years. I was on a grape kick (yeah, my "kicks" go for years), so when I was eating them I'd give them to her for treats. Same with oreo cookies. Jeesh. it didn't do any damage, but I feel bad as maybe she might have lived an extra year or two??? though the Vet said she lived a couple years longer than the average dog of her breed.
Now I am soooo careful with these dogs. Only apples and carrots so far, but it's good to read they can have other fruits/veggies. So what about watermelon...is that safe for them?? I don't want to take a chance and repeat an unsafe food. Thanks.

Niko loves ...anything lol..but he loves loves loves fruits! I've given him apples, watermelon, banana, pear he loves it all :)

Don't feel bad. We used to give our dog before our Yorkies grapes too. She was a Lhasa Apso. She loved grapes and tomatoes. She would pull tomatoes right off of the vine and eat them right then and there. It didn't seen to hurt her but we know better now (about the grapes that is). I haven't heard anything bad about tomatoes.
