Feeding dish? I have trouble getting Zoe to eat out of a dish. We've tried several different good, solid, "heavy" dishes...higher side, lower side; also tried a saucer. She ate out of them for a while and then seemed to become afraid of the dish. She wants to eat off of the wood floor or out of our hands. Any suggestions? |
Could she need a dental? |
Is Zoe 4 months old? Max wasn't quite as picky about his dishes, but we did play a lot of games with his meals during his first year. I ended up doing a lot of hand feeding. Meals became trick training sessions. He would do tricks and I would give him a kibble out of his dish for a reward. Zoe will likely grow out of it. :) |
Thanks...I like the idea of the training sessions. Yes, she's 20 weeks old now. And fun! |
I use paper plates (the small size). |
Does she have a collar on that "clinks" on the dish, or is the dish metal, that might give her a little static electricity shock? I actually use stainless steel cat dishes, that are very low, on the sides, so they can reach them w/ease...If there are no "scarry" reasons for her not to want to eat out of a dish, it might be that she just likes you hand feeding her and that's another story...lol |
1 Attachment(s) I use a tart dish for each of them. It's very low to the ground, doesn't tip, and is a great size. It's like this one: |
I used paper plates and mine were the same way picky about eating out of certain bowls. Now they will eat out of this one bowl I have but it is a small bowl it is a cat bowl |
Ha! I used paper plates until I started finding holes in them! (Yes, they were getting plenty to eat!) Now I use stainless or ceramic.... maybe try elevating the bowl about an inch or two.... I do this with my older dog and he seems to eat better....:D |
Thanks everyone! She currently does have cat dishes...I tried low-sided (about like the tart dish) and about 2" tall, but smaller around. I think it might be the tag on her collar clanging...now that you mention it. Maybe a flat coaster-size plastic dish...so she doesn't try to eat it;), which she would do...she's a feisty one! |
It probably is the tags. Teddi doesn't like the dishes or the linolium. She grabs a piece of food and then runs in the living room to eat it. She has always done that. |
