Do you feed Merricks? Troy is fed Merricks Grammy Pot Pie. I saw that they have a new grain free food. If you feed Merricks have you tried it? Do you like it? I'm due for new food soon, so I'm trying to decide. Troy likes the Grammy Pot Pie but there are times when he can get finicky and not eat. Should I buy both? I was told by a Merrick rep that their products allow for switching without transitioning and tummy upset. I have found that to be true with the different formulas they offer. Thoughts? |
We added Merricks puppy and chicken to our Izzy's diet because she wouldn't eat the dry. When we brought her home she was on eukanuba and wasn't eating it well, only 3 pounds so knew we needed to get her on something good and soon. I tried the merricks dry, and another dry no grain brand and she wouldn't touch them. I finally tried Royal Canine and she loves it thank goodness. |
I just went ahead and got the Grammy. I found some info on the pros and cons of feeding grain free. I read that the more protein etc. they can experience running or mucous stools. |

Before Grain, I fed that to Jackson a while ago, but he got bored with it really fast. BG is not even that high in protein (I think it's 31%). |
Personally I have found grain-free food to be extremely beneficial. Since putting Sasha on strictly grain-free food about 2 years ago, I have noticed a dramatic improvement in her coat, she never really itches herself and has so much energy. Plus she seems to enjoy grain-free food better than foods that do include grain. Plus, you do end up feeding a lot less so a 5lb. bag of food lasts 2 sometimes even 3 months which i don't mind at all. |
Lexie has stopped scratching herself like crazy too. When I first brought her home the breeder had her on Royal Canin and I tried switching her to Merrick puppy plate but she bearly touched it. I finally switched her to Orijen and she's really thriving. I just bought a bag of Acana to switch it up a bit. |
