A question about teething... Good morning fellow yorkie lovers. :) My Nikko is 6 months old and he is in the process of losing his baby teeth. Yesterday while playing with him I noticed that he is growing in his adult bottom canine teeth. The problem is that he hasn't lost the baby ones yet. Basically, it looks like he has double canines on the bottom. Is this normal? I checked the baby canines and they aren't loose yet. Should I be concerned about this? |
If the baby teeth are not loose , you'll have to go to your vet . |
I noticed that with Logan, but he lost the baby tooth the next day. So if the baby tooth isn't loose you may have to go see the vet. |
Teddy didn't loose his until... 1 Attachment(s) Teddy didn't loose his canines until he was around 11 months and yes his others came in behind them or front? But I just brushed them a lot and tried to get in between them with the toothbrush, when they finally came out his new teeth was fine. I gave them bones to chew on (Rag bones) and then sometime when our store here didn't have the Sience Diet puppy little bits of food then we had to get the large bits and I think that's also what helped. The larger bits he had to chew better and it help work those teeth loose. Hope this will help you. Tiffy lost all of hers right away lol. Goes to show how different they can be. Hugs, Lee |
Samson had this too. The vet said as long as they are not bothering him, meaning he is still eating, playing etc, than just wait to see if they come out. They probably fell out maybe a couple weeks after I noticed them growing in. He got neutered shortly after that and did have to have two others pulled but I don't know which those were and don't remember seeing any other that were doubled up like the first two. |

Oh my gosh, I have the exact same problem with my 6 month old yorkie too! She has double canines on the bottom... Im hoping that they will just fall out in a month or so? If not then I will take her to the vet. |

Ruby had double canine's on the top and bottom and we just got them pulled when she went for her spay because they wouldn't fall out themselves and they were in there just as tight as her perminant ones. Some times they won't come out by themselves and it is a good idea to get them pulled because of the dental problems Yorkies have plus their mouths are too small for all the extra teeth and the baby teeth can make their perminant teeth crooked. |
Same situation here, I just picked her up, and wiggled her baby canine teeth, and they aren't loose at all. They are both pretty much the same size now. Yeah, I wouldn't want her knocked out by the vets either, so hopefully they fall out soon. I read from an above post I think that someones Yorkie's teeth didnt come out until 11 months? So I think our Yorkies will be all right. :-) |
When you get your little Yorkies spayed or neutered at 5 - 6 months of age, it is a good time for the Vet to examine their teeth. Sometimes problems can be seen and teeth extracted while they are already asleep. |
