Purina Pro Plan What do yall think of Purina Pro Plan for Puppies |
I had Fido on it, he gained 3 lbs of it ! he got FAT ! and he only ate it for 2 months, 3 lbs in 2 months is pretty much :/ and he was a little bit fat before he gained the weight. |
wow. well what do u have Fido on now? We have our little Benji on Nutro and we are very afraid because of consumer reports on Nutro and other brands like Iams. |
Started Purina Pro Plan today I just started Purina Pro Plan today. And he seems like he likes it. I mixed it with his reg. dry and he ate all the Pro Plan out of it.My little Luigi has started Itching and biting at his lower back, tail, butt and legs. So we are starting with eliminating Chicken from his diet. My daughter went to Pet Smart Today to find a poultry free dry food. She came home with Pro Plan Salmon. Everything she picked up and read had poultry in it as a filler. So we will start with this one. Now I am looking for a poultry free canned food. I just read with my daughter the one we are feeding him even though it is beef still has chicken in it. Very few canned and dry foods are poultry free. |
I would not recommend Pro Plan at all. Too many controversial ingredients and Purina is not a reputable company. Take a gander at this website: Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble and try to get a 4-5 star food. 6 star foods are VERY high in protein and some yorkies do fine on them and others not so much. I personally feed Acana Grainfree Grasslands & Prairie formulas. Good luck!! Vivian |
Thank you very much! I heard lots about Wellness. Im looking into maybe that |
Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble I have just received 7 samples of Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul and my puppies seem to like it, they are 7 weeks old(so does the momma for a treat). When I looked up the above link it was given a 5 star rating. If you write to them they will send you samples. Only a suggestion not a recommendation as every dog and his owner are different. |
Wellness Puppy is a good choice. I also like Blue Buffalo Puppy. |
After spending more time than I'd like to admit researching dog food, ingredients and sources of the ingredients, I have come to the conclusion that Purina and Quality don't belong in the same sentence. For the price of Pro Plan, you can buy a top quality dog kibble. I have been feeding Taste of the Wild for over two years now and I am very pleased with the product. |
Purina has corn in their products and that is not good. I feed mine Natural Balance ultra small breed and orijen mixing both of the dry together. |
I have also been feeding Taste of the Wild. The girls like it & I like that it is grain free. :) I wouldn't recommend any Iams, Science Diet, Purina (& I used to live in ST Louis-lol). etc. Yuk! |
I transitioned Tallulah to it a couple of weeks ago and she came down with critters in her intestines and diarrhea. Assumed the diarrhea was unrelated to the food, so after treatment and bland diet for several days till she was back to normal, I transitioned her VERY slowly back to the Proplan. By the second day she had diarrhea again! Put her back on chicken and rice and she's back to normal. So I don't think it's the right choice for Tallulah, at least. |
