rice flour Hi everyone! Veruca's vet thinks her rubbing is a food allergy. She is starting on a hypoallergenic diet but I didn't think about her treats. So today I went to the organic dog food store and the "guru" asked what treats she ate....? We are clearing out our cupboard... is "rice flour" one of those do not feed foods?? It's an ingredient in Zuke's Z-filets which we used to use to train in tiny bits. Our new treats are 1) Stella & Chewys and 2) Wellness Pure Rewards Chicken & Lamb jerky. Thanks! |
What food is she on? Is it from the vet? What formulation is it? |
She is a super picky eater so she gets a mix of Great Life Grain Free Buffalo, Earling Brothers Grain Free with White Meat Protein, and Earling Brothers Grain Free with Red Meat Protein. Basically I take a few pieces of two kinds at a time to make 1/3 of a cup. And now I'm adding a 1/2 a tsp of Evanger's Canned food (100% meat). Tonight we're having a taste test on the canned food flavor (Beef, Buffalo, Rabbit, and Chicken) to see which she prefers. |
To see if it is a food allergy, an elimination diet is required. That is one protein source and one carb that the pup has not had before for at least 12 weeks with no other ingredients (usually some vegetables can be given). Or an rx diet from the vet will have hydrolyzed protein and may work. Your pup is getting way too many sources of protein. If she is developing allergies, you won't have anything to go to later if she is exposed to all of these already. So I would stay with what you have been using until the vet gives you the diet plan. |
