Beet Pulp? What do you think? So many advise against feeding Beet Pulp. I have read a number of things why people won't feed it. Then I read the flip side and how it is ok and once the sugar is removed it is safe to feed, all the health benifits etc,... I personally don't feed it,because it does cause controversy, but then I think, well what about garlic? I am ok with that. So is it really as bad as it seems? So my question is about do you feel about it, actually alot of premium brands I see actually have it in their food, Life's Abundance, Holistic Select, Artemis Ospure, are just a few off the top of my head... How do you feel about it? |

As far as dog food is concerned beet pulp is a cheap fiber filler. I don't know that it is necessarily harmful, but it acts as a bulk agent so you think you are getting more "dog food". It is fantastic for horses, especially those prone to colic, and pregnant mares. We used to mix up a big bucket of beet pulp with warm, mix in some molasses and the girls heavy with foal loved it. The pulp keeps their gut filled with fiber, after all horses naturally eat huge amounts of fiber in the form of hay and grass. |
