Too young for rabies shot? Bitsy is 13 weeks old, when I took her yesterday for her shot and worming, the vet said on her next visit in 4 weeks that she would get her rabies shot. Is she not too young for this  My mini doxie was almost six months old when he got his. Just wondering. I wouldn't want her to have an adverse reaction it it  |
The first rabies shot is given at 16 weeks (4 months)............NC now has 3 rabies shots. 4 months, 8 months and 3 years. Every 3 years after. How different are SC rabies laws? |
My mini doxie got his first one Dec. 18th, he won't need another until next year, so, once a year. |
South Carolina is one of the few states that doesn't have a set age and schedule for rabies vaccinations. It sounds like it is left to the discretion of the veterinarian. S.C. Code of Laws Title 47 Chapter 5 Rabies Control - www.scstatehouse.gov-LPITS I'd follow Dr. Jean Dodds recommendation in that case and not get the the vaccination until six months. |
