stella and chewys supplement? Hey everyone, So Ive started both my babies on stella and chewys, the only thing is.. its a little bit expensive to feed alone. Does anyone else feed stella and chewys? and is anyone supplementing with anything else? I would prefer something grainfree since both my babies have sensitive skin/allergies. I was thinking of doing the innova evo, (already been doing the ziwipeak and orijen, kind of want to switch it up,..plus ziwipeak is SOOO expensive too!!!:thumbdown) let me know folks!!!!!! |
I feed Jackson (16lbs) one Stella & Chewy's patty in the AM for breakfast and his dinner is 1/2 cup of Orijen or Acana kibble mixed with a tablespoon of wet food. With Jackson being 16lbs, he'd need 5 patties of the S&C's (or so the bag says) per day, and I just can't afford that right now. Plus I like being able to have kibble since we travel a lot, or sometimes I'll forget to put his meal in the fridge to thaw out, etc. Innova/Evo kind of worries me now because of the Proctor & Gamble buyout. They have yet to change their formulas, as far as they know, but I no longer trust them as a company. I'd definitely stick with Orijen or Acana over Evo, and I think Evo is alot higher in fat, too. |
omg your boy is 16lbs! holy!!!! he's huge!! haehehe :D yeah, its too expensive for me!! i'll probably do the orijen or the acana maybe some canned ziwipeak who knows! i just cant afford to feed it alone!!! they seem to really love it though. |
I use Stella and Chewy's as a topper to their Wellness small breed. I use about 1/2 to 1 pattie a day. My friend also sells Stella and Chewys at her Dog boutique so I either get it free or for a good deal :) |

oh you're so lucky!!! |
I also use S&C as a topper on their regular amount of Taste of the Wild in the morning, only 1/4 of a DRY patty for each girl. I started with the beef and after a long while have switched to the duck, duck, goose, they love it!! For their dinner I use a little Honest Kitchen Preference as a topper on their regular amount of TotW. They love the variety...TotW is grain free & pretty reasonable priced, so it works out ok for us...:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
i split it with TOTW too. Soph gets a whole patty for breakfast with some green beans and Gulliver gets half a patty with some green beans. Then I free feed the kibble, between the two of them about 2/3 cup of kibble per day. |
awesome, thanks guys.. i havent tried taste of the wild, i will have to look into that! i have a 4 year dog, and an 11 week old puppy. of course the puppy eats wayyy more, so stella and chewys is not affordable for me to feed online. ;) |
looking at taste of the wild, it has eggs in it!!:thumbdown snickers is allergic to eggs too...!! blahhh! |
Check out Nature's Variety too. They have raw medallions and kibble. Some people, to save money, will mix some of their kibble with the raw frozen medallions. All of their food is raw and completely grain free. I personally rotate between Stella & Chewys, Nature's Variety, and Primal. My dogs like all the brands and I've never had tummy issues rotating between them (probably because they all use the same basic, human-grade ingredients). I also cook for my dogs. i will buy meat from my local grocery store and then freeze it until I'm ready to cook it. |
